About the artist
I live and work between the stunning lands of the Kabi Kabi (sunshine coast) and the Yuggera & Turrbal people (Meanjin, Brisbane). The shoreline and the shifting sands of Moreton Bay inspire so much of my work. 'Banggalu' literally means 'pandanus' in the language of the Bundjalung. I chose this name because whenever I can, I spend time admiring and painting the country around Byron Bay, the lands of the Bundjalung. To me Pandanus trees signify a kind of home-coming - to the place where I can breathe again.
Painting is an incredible release from my career in human rights. Therefore every artwork I produce comes from my happy place.
Much of my artwork is large (or very large) and means I get paint absolutely everywhere, including myself.
Big thanks to my husband who does all the framing and big thanks to my lounge room floor for bearing the scars of this love!
